Ancurated was born from a pressing need to amplify the voices of black and independent creators who have long been overlooked in the art and cultural landscape. Our founder, vintagemozart, recognised the significant gap in representation, particularly within the NFT space, where creators of diverse backgrounds often struggled to gain visibility and support. The African NFT community, while vibrant and pioneering, eventually lost momentum as it primarily functioned as a community. It had its course and is cemented in history. However, he had the ambition to curate and cultivate narratives that educate audiences about the richness of diverse cultures. This ambition drove the desire to create a platform prioritising cultural representation and equity. 

Initially conceived as ‘African NFT Curated’ to preserve and celebrate African culture, the vision quickly evolved to embrace a broader spectrum of cultural narratives, reflecting the need for inclusivity beyond singular continental groups. Recognizing the importance of collaboration, vintagemozart gathered like-minded co-founders Nygilia and Ayesha Kazim, who shared this vision and were passionate about building a curatorial and press production powerhouse. Together, they pooled their expertise and resources, forging a strong foundation for ancurated. Each co-founder brought unique perspectives, enhancing the organisation’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community.

Today, ancurated stands as a beacon for independent creators, providing them with the tools, resources, and platform necessary to showcase their work. We curate compelling narratives, connect artists with audiences, and advocate for cultural stories that deserve to be told. Our mission is to reshape the cultural landscape, ensuring that every voice is heard and celebrated.

To become the leading force in preserving and amplifying culture, identity, and artistry across the African and Afro-diaspora, utilizing Web3 technology to create a timeless cultural archive on the blockchain.
